If you want your business to be noticed you need to make sure it stands out from the crowd, so it not only needs to look different, it needs to sound different, too. How many businesses have you seen described as a “one stop shop”, or advertised “for all your [insert any product/service] needs”? How many products are advertised as being “the cheapest”, “the best value” or “the best on the market”? How many times do you read about “the best service in town”?
None of these phrases are very original, they are all clichés and they all make the businesses that use them seem lazy, dated, down market and, well, a bit boring.
To make your business sound different you need to come up with some words and phrases that no-one else is using. Focus on an area of your offer that is different or better than that of your competitors and take your time to get your wording just right. Invest in the help of a marketing consultant or copywriter if necessary; this is important enough to spend a bit of time and money on.
Using words and phrases that sound different will ensure that potential customers notice your business above your competitors, and it will make it seem as though you have something a little bit different to offer.
