The Entertainers Reflect on Johnny Cash
September 12, 2003
“Locusts and honey … not since John The Baptist has there been a voice like that crying in the wilderness. … Every man knows he is a sissy compared to Johnny Cash.” — A great quote from Bono, courtesy of K-Go, the ultimate living reference source for all things music.
MTV has posted a story with reactions from stars on the passing of the man in black. “He showed me his house, his ranch, his zoo (seriously, he had a zoo in Nashville), his faith, his musicianship,” said U2’s Bono on the band’s Web site. “He was more than wise. In a garden full of weeds — the oak tree.”
For more on Cash, check out Kurt Loder’s great article, “Johnny Cash: Original Gangsta“. The last page has more great quotes from the likes of NIN to The White Stripes and Snoop Dog.
