Opera based on Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale

I was finding The Satanic Verses a wee bit heavy so I picked up The Robber Bride, a novel that has been sitting on my To Read shelf for quite some time. I thought I would update my reading list on All Consuming and happened to notice that they provide links to RSS feeds from Yahoo news based on the authors of the books in one’s list. It was news to me that Atwood’s work was starting to make it onto the opera stage.

An edgy opera based on Margaret Atwood’s famous novel about a futuristic society where fertile women are forced to bear offspring for the elite will finally get a Canadian audience.
