The World Record for Fastest Text Messaging
May 7, 2004
Setting a world speed record for the one skill that we hope will become obsolete in the very near future, James Trusler has emerged as the world’s fastest text messager, tapping out, “The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human” on his cellphone in a mere 67 seconds, shaving nearly a minute off of the previous record.[Engadget via TechDirt via Jenny]
Changing the way people access online information, one thumb at a time.
:: I read an interesting story about a journalist who uses his cell phone to write stories. “My thumbs hurt! They were sore and swollen after typing 32 small reports on that phone.” You don’t say?! But here is an interesting stat: Norway has extremely high mobile phone use; 86 per cent of the overall population and 100 per cent of 16 to 19 year olds have a mobile phone, according to recent research by Norway’s national statistics office. Mobile phones are common in Canada, but we have a ways to go before we achieve these kind of numbers.

It’s true, North America really doesn’t use mobile phones the way Europeans and Asians do. Text messaging is SO popular in the UK.
